“The drum beat starts. It vibrates in your feet, your chest, your ears” – Arts Midwest. Described as “Inuit Soul Music,” Pamyua signifies a confluence of cultures, blending Inuit drumming and dance with R&B, gospel, jazz, and funk influences. The result is a new style that reverberates through your body and spirit.

Started in 1995 by brothers Phillip (Kilirnguq) and Qacung Blanchett, Pamyua (pronounced bum-yo-ah) derives its name from the Yup’ik word meaning “encore” or “do it again.” A symbol of pride for Alaska’s Indigenous people, “the world’s most famous Inuit band” (Rolling Stone) shares its cultural harmony on stages from New Zealand to Denmark to The Kennedy Center.
