The Beat Of Us

A Community Drumming Project

April 1-3, 2026 | Anchorage & Matsu Community Locations
April 4, 2026 | Performance at the Alaska Native Heritage Center

About the Project

The Beat of Us is a community-centered drumming residency and performance that brings people together through rhythm, creativity, and shared experience. Led by world-renowned bucket drummer Jared “Choclatt” Crawford and produced by Alaska Media Firm & Dimond VIP Services with support from Anchorage Concert Association, this project celebrates drumming as a universal, accessible art form rooted in cultural tradition and community connection.

Over the course of six days, Jared works directly with Anchorage students, cultural drum groups, and community members in hands-on workshops and gatherings across both Anchorage and the Matsu. The project culminates on 4/4/2026, World Drummers Day in a free public performance at the Alaska Native Heritage Center in an event that reflects the learning, collaboration, and relationships built throughout the residency.

This is not just a concert, it’s the result of collective creation right here in Alaska.

The Performance – April 4, 2026

The residency concludes with a high-energy, family-friendly performance at the Alaska Native Heritage Center, bringing together Jared “Choclatt” Crawford, local cultural drum groups, and community and workshop participants.

This performance celebrates Anchorage’s diverse rhythm traditions and showcases what can happen when communities create together. The event is designed to be welcoming, accessible, and joyful for all ages.

Join us Saturday, April 4th, starting at 4pm!
