7:30pm // Discovery Theatre

Glasgow, Scotland is known for birthing great bands, and contemporary folk group Breabach is firmly ranked among them. One of the country’s most skilled and imaginative acts, the band ties their deep roots in Scottish Highland and Island tradition with the City of Music’s innovative excitement.

Over their illustrious career, they’ve released seven acclaimed albums and earned abundant awards, including their recent win for ‘BBC Folk Band of the Year’ at the Scots Trad Music Awards. From Central Park to the Sydney Opera House, Breabach’s shows are polished and passionate, “matching fiery intensity with exquisite finesse” (The Scotsman).

Breabach includes Megan Henderson (fiddle, vocals, step dance), James Lindsay (double bass, vocals), Calum MacCrimmon (bagpipes, whistle, bouzouki, vocals), Conal McDonagh (bagpipes, whistle, vocals), and Ewan Robertson (guitar, vocals, cajon). Acknowledging and respecting the origins of both the music they play and the roots of the band whilst embracing the future with new ideas, energy, and belief is a key attribute of the band and has remained a constant theme throughout their 17 years.

With electrifying fiddles, pipes, vocals, and plenty of Scottish charm, Breabach is an exhilarating show you dinnae want to miss!
