ARTWORKS Anchorage

Celebrating the arts in our community

Oct. 3, 2020

10:00AM - 7:30PM // Anchorage

October 3rd is ARTWORKS Day in Anchorage!

Anchorage’s performing arts organizations have gathered during the COVID-19 crisis to create a new annual event celebrating the greater arts community in our city.

Our goals are to raise support for the arts by increasing visibility for the numerous arts organizations and artists whose work enhances life in Anchorage, and to build advocacy for the arts through community engagement.

Why ARTWORKS?

Because ARTWORKS for community.
Because ARTWORKS for the economy.
Because ARTWORKS for education.
Because ARTWORKS for all.

The day-long activities will culminate with a special “Curtain Call” at 7:30pm. Open your window, stand in your driveway, on your porch, or wherever you are. Join in a community-wide round of applause for the arts in Anchorage to honor the theatres and performance venues that are dark and acknowledge the curtains that won’t go up.

How you Can Participate

Individuals and families are strongly encouraged to post their art – any kind – on social media and/or post something about your favorite artist and arts organizations in Anchorage and why you support them. Whether it’s a chalk drawing in your driveway, a song on the patio, a finger painting, a family flash mob, or testimony about your love of the arts, let’s see it! Please use the #artworksanchorage hashtag when you post.

We hope you will participate with us and share your art and your love of the arts on social media and with your friends to keep the arts visible in our community.
