Don’t be fooled by the name – when Houston band The Suffers step on stage, there’s a combustible force so strong it can cure just about anything. “This band is on fire,” asserts NPR’s Bob Boilen, giving you “soul, straight from horn to heart.”

Their magical Gulf Coast soul simmers with a dash of reggae, a splash of jazz, a pinch of salsa, a hint of rock 'n' roll, and a dollop of hip-hop and funk. There’s something undeniable about the eight-piece outfit (whose name is a reference to the ’70s Jamaican film Rockers). From NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert to the Newport Folk Festival, these H-Town heroes make believers of everyone who listens.

The Suffers will leave you walking away feeling empowered, resilient, and inspired to live a better life.
