Local arts organizations will gather to hold a forum with four of the mayoral candidates on March 4th at 6 pm at Cyrano’s Theatre, 3800 Debarr Rd., to hear about their personal connections to the arts and discuss how arts and culture would play a role in their administrations. Candidates Suzanne LaFrance, Bill Popp, Chris Tuck, and Mayor Dave Bronson will be participating and answering questions posed by the moderator.

The Anchorage Arts Alliance believes in the importance of arts and culture due to the vast impact that they have on the city and state. Arts patrons generate $9.2 million in economic activity every year for Anchorage business. Across the state, arts and culture employs over 11,000 Alaskans, similar to the mining industry, while producing $1.3 billion and 2.6% of Alaska’s GDP.

The forum is open for the public to attend and hear from the candidates themselves on how they view the role of arts and culture in Anchorage. With limited seating available at Cyrano’s, attendees are encouraged to RSVP at https://bit.ly/Mayoral-Arts-Forum

You can also listen to the forum live on Out North Radio at 106.1FM or online at https://www.outnorthradio.com.

Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the event. Please conact Mitchell Hansen for more information and interview requests, mhansen@anchorageconcerts.org, (907) 272-1471.

We invite the community to contribute a question to be asked of candidates on the evening of this forum. We will do our best to include as many perspectives and questions as possible, but we may not be able to include every question submitted. Please submit any questions no later than Friday, March 1st 2024 at 5:00PM AKST.
