Launching Community Café Nights
Military & veterans come together in a new monthly series
Anchorage Concert Association is thrilled to announce the launch of a new monthly series called the Community Café. It's all about bringing our veterans and active-duty personnel who may be dealing with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and/or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), along with their families and caregivers, together for a unique healing experience through songwriting and music performance.
Our Community Café events will kick off with a jam circle, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved. And that's not all! We're also hosting an open mic night, where families, caregivers, and members of the community can come together and enjoy these incredible performances. We're truly privileged to have six talented music artists from our own community taking turns to host these wonderful gatherings. It's an extension of the successful Rosanne Cash Songwriting Workshop that we had earlier this year, but now on a more regular basis.
What's really special about the Community Café series is that it allows attendees to participate at their own comfort level in a group music setting. And to make it even more awesome, we've got local community musicians serving as hosts, creating a connection with Anchorage's vibrant music scene. Most importantly, we're providing a safe and alcohol-free environment for our active military personnel and veterans to connect with their peers.
So keep your eye out for upcoming announcements, spread the word, and join us for the Community Café! We can't wait to see you there.
Funding for ACA's Community Café series is provided in part by Creative Forces®: NEA Military Healing Arts Network, an initiative of the National Endowment in partnership with the U.S. Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Creative Forces Community Engagement Grant program is managed by Mid-America Arts Alliance.
