The Capitol Steps
Making America grin again
Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020
7:30 p.m. // Atwood Concert Hall
The Capitol Steps have elevated political satire to an art form. The Washington, DC-based comedy troupe believes that, if you don’t laugh about politics, you might end up crying. Their constantly changing show has been giving audiences laugh cramps for nearly 40 years.
The Capitol Steps began in 1981 as a group of Senate staffers who set out to satirize their employers, and they haven’t let up since. The troupe returns to Anchorage with a new show of musical and political comedy and bipartisan lampooning.
With sketches and musical numbers such as “How Do You Solve a Problem Like Korea?” and “Battle Hymn of the Tea Public,” The Capitol Steps puts the MOCK in democracy and will have you rolling with laughter — perhaps even across the aisle.
